AUKUS: Sunak heads to US for talks over nuclear submarines deal

Rishi Sunak has pledged to increase the UK’s defence spending by nearly £5bn over the next two years to counter emerging threats from hostile states.

The PM made the announcement during his trip to California, where he is meeting his US and Australian counterparts to discuss the expansion of nuclear-power submarines under the AUKUS pact.
